We are relocating to Katy in about a month. My oldest son will attend Woodcreek Jr. High, however, I'm getting a bit nervous reading about all the overcrowding there (no available lockers, over filled cafeteria, etc.). My son is fairly shy and reserved, are there any other people who've recently relocated and your kids are attending WCJH? How have your kids adjusted, etc. We are moving from a smaller town in MI where there is only one Jr. High building so this will be an adjustment. Thanks in advance for any insight.

The principal is a really good one and she deals with overcrowding very well. In fact the staff has dealt with it in the past and is top notch.

It is a very large campus, but it functions smoothly. I would send my child there in a heartbeat. All my friends who have children there are happy.

My family and I moved down here from Midland, MI a few years back and my son moved into Woodcreek JH 8th grade. It was a bit of an adjustment for him, but ireally not too bad. WCJH is a good school. We are no longer zoned to Woodcreek with the addition of Seven Lakes Junior High. I think the new school has relieved some of the overcrowding, but not all.
Your son should have no problem adjusting. Katy continues to grow, which means other families are moving in all the time, so there are always new kids and families in the schools, with many different personalities.

Thanks Hdwannabee. How are you liking Texas? We won't miss the MI winters, but will miss the summers.

Yes it is over crowded but they do a good job of controlling it. It has a capacity if 1200 and an enrollment of 1900. If the bond passes a new Jr. High will be built that will help Seven Lakes and WCJH
