First time homeowner here. Tonight will be a freezing night. What do I need to do with my sprinkler system? Also, do I need to cover up my water outlets outside the house to avoid from possible fractures pipes?

TIA.

Its a light freeze so just cover your plants and keep the heat on and you should be fine.

Wrap/cover up the hose bibs (disconnect the hoses), shut down the sprinkler system, drain and cover up the back flow valve till late Feb/March.

When I lived in Oklahoma we had our sprinkler system drained and plugged for the winter season.

Probably not necessary here. If we get to the point where the ground is frozen several inches deep, we are in uncharted territory. But yes, that would definitely be a good idea (or mandatory) in parts of Oklahoma and areas further north.

Where did it actually freeze early this morning? This seemed to be a bunch of hype.
