Default Affordable Temporary Housing Near Clay Street

My son and two friends will be working as interns for Deloitte (on Clay Street, Downtown Houston) from February to end of May, 2008. They'll need short term housing. Any suggestions as to some affordable way to achieve this considering driving time, parking cost, living cost? They'll also need furnishings. Which option would be best, other than bringing their own...looking for furnished housing, renting from a rental firm? Also to be considered is the safety of the area they'll be living in. Help!!!!!!

They might find an apt. they can share in Midtown that will give them a 3 or 4 month lease - they'd just need to work with them.
