You're kidding, right? You want to ADD humidity to your house? Most ACs here have a dehumidifier to keep us from growing mold everywhere.

The ONLY time I ever use a humidifier in my house is if my child has a severely stuffy nose/cold.

So why are you wanting to purchase a humidifier?

Yeah, I don't know why you'd want a humidifier in Houston. I can't think of a time when my lips have been chapped or I've had a dry mouth here.

My lips only get chapped when I run sub 50 degrees. Otherwise I am dehumidifying my life! It's oppressive here all seasons.

A humidifier comes in handy at times. Usually during cold fronts which tend to drop the humidity below 50%. It was in the low 20's this morning. I used ours several times last winter but only a couple times so far this winter. It is a Vicks one from target, enough for a large room and we have a small kids one for our sons room. You don't need anything fancy and definitely won't need it in the summer.
