+1, if you wanted to see some real thugs you had to go to the old $1 theater on South Gessner and Beechnut. I remember one time when I was a kid when I was with my family we seen this dude getting robbed. They jacked him right in front of our car. Ah, the good old days. The Plitt on Fondren and Meyer Park were also ratchet all hell. Probably not as dangerous as Sugar Land.

Sometimes it's interesting to read these threads just to see the misinformation or prejudice-filled posts. By prejudice, that includes posters who have a negative opinion of a place and believe everyone has to have the same opinion, especially if the area's residents are mostly minority. Often it's the same posters from one thread to another.

Got some racist PM comments on that one so needed to respond. Yes, 80% of people going to FC AMC are not white. So THAT makes it a 3rd world ghetto?? Gimme a break. Sugar Land is a diverse community of professionals. Yes, I saw a ton of various Asian, and some Hispanic and Black middle and upper middle class professional families there. I think that's great. These people worked hard and deserve every bit of their success. It is not the ghetto. Some of the very best neighborhoods in Orange County, CA with top tier schools have demographics similar to Sugar Land. People are people.

You said it well. It blows my mind how some posters automatically associate non-white with negative connotations. You see that all over, in most every city forum. I also see it in other types of discussion forums, regardless of the topic. I think it's a representation of part of U.S. culture. I just hope it doesn't represent how a large portion of Americans feel. Regardless of what forum I visit (and I visit many in addition to city-data), it's usually the same posters, time after time. It's very predictable. I'm sure many of us appreciate posts like yours reminding everyone that we're all human.

It can't be. At least not @ the AMC first colony. We went there just last Sunday (18 jan), for a 10 pm show along with our whole family including children. We met there some more families that came with children. Sure, we saw some teenagers by themselves, but nothing scary.

Apparently "some teenagers by themselves" is scary to at least some posters.

There's some nice but there's also some rundown areas way too close to "nice"

But luckly it's hidden by the Ikea and Costo and all those stores along I-10. Go behind them though. People who promote SB mean live on the other side of 1-10...not the Clay, Hammerly, Bingle, etc side. Voss Rd side not the Bingle side.
I don't think Spring Branch is so bad compared to Southwest Houston (the 59 commute I mentioned in my previous comment). South of Westview is becoming rapidly more expensive. That area is being revitalized due to being near Energy Corridor as well as the Memorial Hermann medical buildings. People priced out of Memorial are going north of I-10.

We stopped going to AMC First Colony about 10 years ago for the same reason. Lots of young rowdy teenagers who would shout throughout a movie and be generally disruptive. It got really old and annoying after a while. Never attributed it to race but more so to youth. After that we switched over to AMC Dunvale and things were much better..
