Smile Kansas to H-town

Hey all,

I am relocating from Kansas to H-town. Will be working nearby " Royal Oak Country Club ". Any suggestions for 2bd 2ba apartments/townhomes with rent range in 7xx-8xx with safe living. Would prefer to commute for about 10-15 mins to work. How about flooding in that area....shed some light on it.

I saw many threads about flooding/good areas to live. Being new to Houston...I find difficulty understanding area locations.

Thanks all in advance.

First off.......welcome to Texas. You will probably find a lot of culture shock coming from Kansas. If you are young and love to explore then you will fit right in.

The locals will fill you in more on the apartment rentals and such.

Just want to welcome you.

Good luck !

Default Thank you

Thank you. I know it will be a cultural shock. Kansas cities are pretty much laid back. Happy about moving to a " live" city.

The only thing you might worry about is school zones if you're sending kids to school. If not then look between Westheimer and Richmond and Dairy Ashford and Shadowbriar. That's a square area with a lot of apartments. Also, look on Dairy Ashford and Eldridge in between I-10 and Westheimer. The flooding is not bad on the west side. I live out here and I don't have a problem with it.

It's a crowded area that can change block to block. Generally it's a nice part of town. The main thing is probably to pay enough to get a good apartment complex. I can't tell you what would be the best complex because I can only see by the eye what looks nice. Some will probably end up out of you price range. Research on some of those apartment review websites. You will have a lot of different apartments to choose from in the general areas I mentioned.

As far as crime goes, I generally feel safe but it's all around the big city. If you have a fancy car someone may decide they want it. A woman should be careful not to be alone in certain spots. Watch your back at an atm. The worse that ever happened to me was I had a car stolen, but I was in a bad area at the time.
