Yes..my reply was a bit confusing. I meant that we were also considering kingwood mainly because of the schools. We loved the homes in Tavola but not the schools.

Not in the least. My worry comes more from fights, drugs, and gang related activity. And that goes for any middle and high school - not those associated with New Caney, or any other particular suburb or urban area.

Not sure about Keefer MS but we live in the NISD and my daughter is now at Porter High. I've never had any issues with the district or her education. In all honesty you're going to get fights, drugs and stupidity in every school district. Some obviously more than others but to think drugs aren't sold in The Woodlands is being naïve. Want your kid to have a successful education just be part of it and get them into being part of the community. Anyways we live in Riverwalk and again things have been in my opinion great but I'm just a product of the good ole inner city education.

I am pretty sure those kinds of things do not happen in the better schools. That is probably why the better school districts house value is a higher premium.

Porter High School in Porter TX - SchoolDigger.com

Porter is a new school and only 2/3 of the kids can pass the assessment tests?

I guess if you think is good enough, than I guess i fine.

Yeah, that Grand Texas Theme Park may never get off the ground. I hope it does though eventually, to pick up some of the taxes LOL

we would like to buy a house in tavola too, but the rail road crossing to enter the community is kind of a drawback. is that a big problem in terms of resale value? how frequent are the trains?

We closed on our home in Tavola in late April and we are near the front of the community right off Roman Forest. In all honesty the noise from the train has never bothered us a bit. My understanding is that they are going through the process to establish a quiet zone at that crossing but it may take some time.
All in all we like the community, Roman Forest PD patrols through here often. I have no info on the schools in the area since we do not have school age kids.

We close on our home in Tavola on Thursday. During our initial walk through last week, I brought the train situation up to the Customer Service Rep and he let me know that they've recently put together a notice to the board to make Roman Forest/Tavola a Quiet Zone so that the trains don't blare their horns as they pass by. I know a few people that live there already and they've told me that they don't even notice the train. This issue never bothered me since I was born and raised in the projects of NYC in Lower Manhattan, so noise is something that I'm used to, so I never even gave it a thought.

I really wouldn't worry about resale value at all for Tavola. Once the Valley Ranch Mall opens and the Grand Parkway extension opens in a few months and you'll be able to easily access The Woodlands and others parts West, resale value will go up. Hell, my house appraised at 15k over what we paid.

Went to kingwood high school when kingwood was the suburb to be in and the woodlands was a sprawling "would be nice if they could get their **** together". Friend died of a heroin overdose sophomore year, kingwood cheerleading girls doing drugs and committing armed robbery, drugs drugs and drugs. The richer you were the more drugs you did was my impression. I dont live there anymore now that im adult but I have friends who are teachers. Apparently the high schools are the drug schools again

Schools in ft bend are identical. Drug use is really prevalent in this state
