No. I don't want you to go over 36% of your monthly budget on housing or it will cause financial difficulty.
On that pay scale, you shouldn't be buying a house costing more than $105K because with home insurance, taxes, and probably PMI will be about $850 a month in mortgage payments. You can still find a 2/2 house or condo for less than that. But if you buy a condo, be sure to ask how much is their HOA fee to maintain the landscape, community pool, and exterior maintenance which can add up a lot. On the other hand, if you buy a house, you'll need to buy a lawnmower, water house, paint, mulch, etc. As you sound like a fine young couple, you'll want to start right by not getting any bad credit scores. Good credit will lead the way to buy a house at a lower interest rate and you'll want to save some money for a down payment.
But let's go back to apartments. I see some 2 bdrm apartments past Beltway 8 for about $750 - $800. This is not far from Westchase.
