In the morning, it takes about 10 minutes to get from my house to the Park and Ride. The bus ride itself is under 30 minutes from the Park and Ride to the corner of my office, so the morning commute isn't bad. It's that afternoon commute that takes forever. That was one of the deciding factors in moving away from the Lake Houston area. We're building in the new Tavola community in New Caney on 59.

May be a lot of homes for sale because petrochemical employees (if there are a lot in those communities) get transferred about often to different locations. Just par for their type of work.

Definitely better than the commute times for the communities on the west side of town.

Agreed, commuting from this side of town into Downtown is a breeze compared to the West Side. Before we moved here from NY and we were looking for neighborhoods, my coworkers told me that if I hate traffic or long commutes, avoid the West Side of town, since we were considering Katy.

West Lake Houston traffic is a nightmare at rush hour, and all the new MPCs will only exasperate the issue. With that being said, we love the area, and ended up building in Waters Edge last year. Thankfully, once you get past Summerwood, West Lake Houston isn't too bad going to Waters Edge or Lakeshore. Once you get to Will Clayton, it's a different story. If you bought a house in Summerwood, I don't think it would be an issue.

One thing that makes no sense - the closest boat launch is in Deussen Park. Neither Lakeshore or Water's Edge has one, and Stillwater(Taylor Morrison) won't have one, either.

I live in Summerwood, and don't really know why there are a bunch of homes for sale here? I did check HAR when I saw this post and it doesn't look like that many relative to other areas in Houston. Just anecdotally, I can say that a neighbor across the street lost their home in a foreclosure 2 yrs ago. This summer a neighbor down the street moved for work out of town. I suspect that it has to do with the type of people who move to Summerwood, families but sometimes one family member works for a large company that does relo. We bought our house from an engineer who was relo'ed and this year, my husband may get relo'ed.

Oh and other posters are correct. Closest access to the lake is Deussen Park.
