You will not have any problems with anyone. I relocated to Houston from the east coast two years ago and I love it! I have met more people from California and from other countries, than I have met native Texans. I use to live in Midtown, but now my family resides in Katy. In both areas it seems that every stranger that I meet are from California. Don't worry you will love Katy.

Houston is very much an international city with people from all over the world. So, people from California will be treated no differently than other transplants like myself.

Welcome to Houston!

I'd think very, very few people would have a bad attitude towards people moving here from someplace else. Anybody that does that is just an a-hole.

That might cause trouble once an enterprising local talk-show host somewhere in Texas brings up the fact and blames the downfall of Texas on "transplants." His audience consists of scared Native Texans who are worried about being outnumbered. This guy will have no inhibitions demagoguing these people; he will do anything to make it into the big leagues.

Native Texans have pride of Texas that often overshadows of that of the United States. Some causes of this are the history, the size, the culture. This is less true with people in other states about their state. That is the ignition that will get this entrepreneur started.

That is quite interesting that this entrepreneur that you speak of will excite people on the basis of fear. I seriously doubt that most tranplants will encounter problems or resistance from people.

Now I am curious, can you PM me this entrepreneur's name? I will like to do a little investigation of my own.

I'm just getting that concern out in the open just in case this happens in the future. I would think he would get his start somewhere in the boonies of Texas (because big cities are more careful with airtime) and would concentrate his attacks on the Californians since there are so many of them and progress to New Yorkers/Jerseyites, Illinoisians, Louisianans (this one is a tinderbox in Houston and the rest of the Gulf Coast/Piney Woods area). If a caller brings up other issues like immigration, he would simply refer them to the numerous American talk-show hosts who already cover it since his niche is Texas' issues.

In essence, just watch out for the wolves.

Whataburger beats Carls Jr. too. Though I wish we had Green Burrito and Del Taco.
