Plants that have jobs that pay in my field..... that is it =/ and even then it is a hard thing to overcome on a daily basis. I have really had to try to make little things try to make me happy. Even if its for only 5 or 10 minutes.

I grew up in Houston.

DH was transferred to almost every town in Texas south of Dallas, and to St. Louis a bunch of times.

As far as Dallas and Houston go, I'd be back in Dallas in a NY minute. DH likes Houston and his seasonal job.

I liked the fact that you could get downtown and anywhere else without ever getting on a freeway.

Everyplace up there knows how to do municipal government. No need for HOA, MPC, and 25+ special purpose districts just to have EMT's, firemen, water and sewer
and the trash picked up.

The only problem we had was that every time we met a new person, they wanted to know when we got saved.

If you have to "rationalize" living here, then you need to move, or don't move here to begin with.

I was born and raised here, it's home. Although, I am getting frustrated with the massive traffic.

Where else can I live within 35 minutes of a thriving major metropolis in a 3,500 sq ft home on the water where I can come home after work and wakesurf or jetski for around $300k?

Additionally, I hate the cold, I like to go out to the rigs to spear fish, we have tons of great food, a very good arts/performing arts scene and there is a lot to do close by.

Houston is awesome. If I were rich, I'd probably live somewhere else, but with my income, I'd rather be in Houston than anywhere.

Could you stay on topic please? Thank you. Anyway, I was born here, and have my career here. That's pretty much it.

I have great friends here, I love my house and community, my kids go to great schools, my husband has a great job that he loves and that provides very well for our family. We don't have to deal with snow or ice or freezing cold weather. We can get to a beach in an hour. There is tons to do in town, and we love the diversity here. I can't imagine being anywhere else.
