This. I actually prefer it here. I've lived in NYC, Chicago, Dallas (briefly 2months), Austin (briefly 3months), and spend most of my year in LA, SF, or San Jose for work, and I choose Houston because I feel the most relaxed, comfortable, and happiest here. Granted I grew up here, so of course I'm going to have some pretty solid locational bias.

Family.

It weren't for them, I would have left years ago.

Mosquitoes and humidity keep me here. Otherwise we'd be in California.

Fat cash, no income tax, women who like football, gun rights, low cost of living, mild winters, excellent food options, international city.

- Lots of engineering jobs
- Lots of Spanish speakers
- Lots of people from Venezuela
- Warmer than Missouri
- Close to the beach
- Florida is not an option for me, I can't live in a place that constantly gets hits by Hurricanes and only has two highways to get out of it.

I love it here. I love that like tonight, I can go into a restaurant with my family (tonight it was Escalante's in Meyerland) and there are people of every race, color, age, size and shape. I love that in Houston, my neighbors may look different than me but we'll bond over some margaritas and chips and really get to know and enjoy each other. I don't have to rationalize living in Houston because I LOVE living in Houston. I traveled to many, many places and I chose Houston. I still continue to choose Houston.
