I'm guessing that half?

I'd say that's pretty darn accurate.

Really, the notion that 3/4 or 9/10th (whatever) of the area ITL are "ghetto" is absurd. To come to such a conclusion one would had to have been isolated from reality for quit some time...

Name places other than Heights, Montrose, and the west side half of the loop that isn't ghetto.

Even parts of the west loop side of town are less than desirable. Anyone that can't see that is living in their own form of reality.

Some people have an undying love for houston and it's weird. How someone constantly suggest that others move there is beyond me.

Agreed.

It's just because a large proportion of people equate anywhere with a large amount of minorities as "ghetto". It's tiring.

There's are plenty of nice neighborhoods on the east side. There are definitely rough ones as well no doubt. But working class is not the same as ghetto, at least in my eyes.

To suggest that most people here have no business on the east side of the loop is the definition of absurd. Lots of great restaurants on that end and more good neighborhoods than the uninitiated would expect.

Isn't that the technical definition of a ghetto?

Doesn't it only apply to slum areas occupied by minorities? I was under the impression a middle class area of 98% Asian people wouldn't be described as a ghetto. Otherwise, we would be using that word to describe parts of Sugar Land, for example. Since I've never heard that term applied there, I assume that those here are using it to describe a slum area with lots of minorities.

I'm not denying there are lots of minorities on the east side of the Loop, only that the area is a monolithic slum, which simply isn't true.
