Anyone on here happen to know where they're having summer school? I drive through several Alief school zones on my way to work. The district website only has info about the high school summer school locations and hours.

Thanks in advance!

I taught for many years in Alief and most schools have summer school. It also varies every summer for which schools don't offer it. I was at one school that offered it at another campus simply because we were being renovated that summer for serious issues.

I assume you're asking because you drive through there and not because you want to send your kids. So I would also pass along that one summer one of our teacher was pulled over in a zone for a school that wasn't in session on the way to our summer school. She told the officer that, and he said that it didn't matter because those kids were still walking to the other schools. So I don't know. She still got the ticket, but she was also a confrontational lady who probably got it more for the fact that she was rude.

It doesn't matter if the kids are there or not. If it's the time to slow down or the lights are flashing, you have to do it. The cops don't monitor the schools to find out when the kids are there.

Thank you. Good to know that you can be ticketed even when school's not in session. I'll admit I've been one of those to drive the regular speed on "off days", but at least I slow down during the school year, unlike some.

Yes, a I got a warning one year for speeding in a school zone mid summer. luckily, I had my teacher tag up and the cop gave me a pass. It's the only time I ever got a pass, but I was so happy because that is a beast of a ticket.
