Got this from a friend:

<<Last night at approx. 6:30P, my husband was robbed on N. Eldridge Parkway between Grant and Cypress N. Houston. It was just this side of the Lismore Lake subdivision. He was traveling home toward Grant when a car in front of him slowed to do a U turn, and the pickup behind "bumped" him, getting him to pull to the side of course. The car in front went on (we now know that it was in on the whole thing). Before he could even get out of his truck to check on the damage, a man was at his window and proceeded to "beat" him. We don't know what he was hit with, but his face and left arm had several lacerations. His arm was hit when he was trying to defend himself. He will be okay, but he looks pretty bad.

The police believe this will be the beginning of more to come, so I want everyone to be aware. Do not stop, if bumped, at least not until you are in a well-lit PUBLIC place.

This could happen anywhere in the Houston Metroplex, and it has. Just because it happened in ONE of the many xburbs doesn't make that ONE a bad place. I think its unfair to target Cypress in your header. Perhaps its should have read, "Is crime increasing in the NW burbs?"" I've read of a whole bunch of urban style crime occuring in The Woodlands lately. Just because you live far from the core, doesn't mean you're immune to crime.

Its unfortunate, I hope he heals well.

I received that same email multiple times. A neighbor even called the women to see if the story was true. It was. However, I think this incident is such a big deal in the area because we don't have much crime not because we do.

^^^ That has to be it.

Also, Cypress is pretty large in size, so even if this particular area is seeing a rise in crime, the area in general is probably as safe as most other middle-to-upper middle class 'burb.

Maybe it's an issue the subdivision, in particular, needs to address if incidents like these are becoming a bit more prominent.

Sorry to hear that, I hope you husband is ok. I live in the area and have always believed that crime does not discriminate. Crime is part of our society and we must always be aware of our surroundings. Some may have higher rates and some may not. Any description on the vehicles or individuals that did this?

I saw that email as well, it's making its rounds, which underscores that sort of thing rarely ever happens out here and isn't tolerated.

I'm still not sure how it could've happened at 6pm without there being a ton of witnesses. That's a fast two lane road, pretty busy around that time and the chances of there being enough time to coordinate something like this at that time of day are pretty slim.

Eventually, whomever tried that will pull over the wrong person and may find themselves staring down the barrel of a gun.

Any description of the perps?

Where the rich people run to, crime follows.

LOL! I am finally amused..Crime can happen anywhere, we have alot less of it out here though. You should be mindful anywhere you go and never get a false sense of security. We choose our place to reside based on crime statistics, but that doesn't mean it will never happen to us.
