Has anyone here tried tech turf on their yard: Turffalo.com - Turffalo Turf Grass - The Perfect Lawn.. I hear that these grass are easy to maintain and yield better result than the typical St. Augustine, Bermuda that typically used here in Houston.

I have not used it but did look at it. It's a buffalo grass. The primary disadvantage is buffalo grass is not very dense and particularly with Houston's rain, weeds germinate fairly easy. I expect turffalo is denser than many other varieties but it is likely still an issue. It seems more popular in other, drier parts of the state where weeds don't germinate as easily and where the low water requirement has more value. I expect it would do great in West Texas. Buffalo grass also needs a lot of direct sunlight to grow well - more than any other grass.

There is a home in River Oaks I've ran by with uncut buffalo grass that looks quite nice, albeit in a bit of a meadow type style.

I would be curious to see someone's experience in Houston as I couldn't find much when previously researching it. I went with Zoysia Zeon as an alternative to the more common turf grasses.

I really want to try tech turf but a little hesitant due to high cost. I will read more about buffalo grass so i can have a better knowledge about tech turf.

How do you like your Zoysia Zeon grass. Is it dense and does it require much maintenance to keep the weeds out. Thank you

Zoysia is likely the best grass at being dense and choking weeds out. The downside is it's hard to cut (some recommend reel mowers but a normal mower with a sharp blade is fine) and some thatch issues. And nothing particularly special with the Zeon variety; there are a dozen or so varieties around that seem popular. Primary aspect to the Zoysia varieties is they are either hybrids of zoysia Manila or zoysia japonica and that is the primary driver in differences between zoysia types.
