I received a ticket for no insurance in 2008 in Vidor texas that I never paid. I just received a voicemail stating that my license could be suspended if I did not pay. This was 7 years ago, is this legitimate?

Thank you

Sure, why wouldn't it be? Why didn't you pay the ticket?

I don't see why you wouldn't pay the ticket and get your affairs in order. It is the responsible, adult thing to do.

Having car insurance when you are driving is the responsible thing to do as well

Do you have insurance now? Or still driving without one?

DPS won't renew until you pay the ticket. See FAQ's here Frequently Asked Questions and Help Center and Texas Department of Public Safety (that's also a DPS site)

Short story is, you have to pay the fine before you can get your license renewed.

Youll be arrested and charged if they pick you up andvtheyll pull your license for as much as one year. I process a lot of background checks and see lots of arrests for driving without a license or license suspended. Employers really look down on this as it categorizes you as someone who has money problems and/or transportation/lack of accountability issues

Pay it

Gawd, if you can't afford the auto insurance and the ticket, then you shouldn't own a car either. Take the bus or get a bicycle.
