It looks like TxDOT scrapped that plan.

Better plan would be to find a way to fix the mess where I69, I45 and 288 meet

Well this is all still in planning and preliminary stages if you read Gattis and Slotboom blog. Nothing is still set in stone. if the GRB can find another place or a compromise for a staging area, this could make TXDOT decision much easier. I do believe the park was really never a reality though. I thought it was just going to be a regular boulevard which IMO would be better than a park.

Good. Would have been a waste of money. Use that money to fix the potholes.

Agreed - they should focus on a deck park near GRB instead. Any additional funding the city can come up with should be focused on improving that east downtown trench with the deck park, signature bridges, etc.

Let the developers improve the Pierce corridor after the elevated comes down.

You know I was just about to say that I was disappointed with the park being scrapped but then I read what you wrote and I agree. The potholes are ridiculous. There is a massive one on my route home and it's been there for weeks now. All they did was spray paint it orange but never got around to fixing it. Now the orange paint is gone and the hole is still just sitting there tearing up cars. There's obviously no money for this park if they can't even afford to repair these potholes.

It would have been very nice to have such a park in the middle of downtown.

Removing the Pierce Elevated may never happen. I doubt that anyone wants Atlanta's Downtown Connector in Houston, especially with the heavily Hispanic East End taking that brunt.

Why would you remove the most scenic drive in Texas though? Make UH harder to access from Katy and Cypress?

In fact the new Pierce Elevated (or Depressed) should be rerouted a block north, freeway width taking the entire block, and then connecting with the North Freeway along Houston Avenue.
