Default Alabama theater

I remember going to the midnight movies at the Alabama and watching refer madness and when the movie came on and the lights went out half the people lit up a joint and the entire place was fogged up with pot smoke .Nobody ever seemed to care that was a different time.

Well, not that different. We experienced that last night outside the Obama rally.

I remember Montrose and Westheimer in the 1990's. Good times, I tell you, good times.

I'd imagine no, because that would be political suicide.

Haha, no, sorry to disappoint! We just caught a few whiffs in the air as we were walking back to the parking lot.

Do you remember the Montrose Block Parties. When we were running the U-Tote-M store on Montrose we had 40 or 50 people in the store all the timer, and they were walking into the cooler helping themselves to the beer and walking out without paying. My co-manager and I were always off during that time but we had a college student from Lamar in Beaumont working for us. We had a set rule during the party that he charged everyone for the broom behind the counter and it worked out so that we never had any inventory shortages. It was a break-even situation. They took-we took. And everyone was happy.

I also remember hearing about a young lady who would hang from a tree during the party and she sold herself for a pack of smokes.

I forgot to ask. Do they still hold the block parties in Montrose? They used to be held twice a year, spring and fall.

Not an all-exhaustive tour of Montrose, but a stroll down Lower Westheimer going into Midtown and Downtown. Enjoy.
