Rest in peace to the officer and condolences to his family.

He was shot several times in the back and then several more as he lay on the ground. Wth? This sounds like a professional hit. How horrible.

Crime and murder. It's been happening since the beginning of time.

It's happening all over the country. We are not exempt from these occurrences. The percentage of good men in this country is on a continual decline.

Bad politics is exactly the reason this crap is happening. Do you actually believe Obama's racist attacks weren't going to have negative consequences? Open your eyes.

Two things I could have predicted....1. Folks rushing on here to downplay Houston's Crime problem and 2. Cubur getting defensive about Cypress (shooting was near Towne Lake) . Surely we wouldn't want the tragic death of this sheriff to get lost in this moment.

All the media is so liberal bias they are scared of even mentioning the shooter is black.

Chronicle does not print the word black.

Best channel 2 could do is write dark complexion.

It is a shame what become of the media.

Would it make you feel any better if they did? BTW that was the description giving at the press conference by Ron Hickman and Thomas Gilliland (Harris County Sheriff's Office), you should send them an email voicing your displeasure.

Im guessing you were not in Houston 15+ years ago. The city is tame compared to how it used to be.

My mom lives not far from there...right now they have the helicopters back out circling her neighborhood. She is freaking out.

Houston has always had spots of bad crime but to just walk up and brazenly shoot a deputy while he is pumping gas on a very busy street is a new level. I would not want to be that loser when the HCSD finds him.

True, but they have a fair description of what he looked like, what he was wearing and what he was driving. I bet they find him.
