Tomorrow, I have my ARB meeting, and I'm pretty sure I'm going to get what I want, which is a reduction in my land value. Essentially, I'm trying to reduce it by $21k.

If you fought your property taxes this year, how did you do?

Last year, I didn't get anything and felt the board was essentially directed to not give any breaks.

We went to the first step then did not go further to the board. She basically said it was not going to happen with what is going on your neighborhood.

I'm definitely no expert but did you download the HCAD evidence packet and see the land sales around you.

HCAD is being easier this year - FBCAD is being MUCH more difficult (according to clients in both districts and how their meetings are going).

Follow the directions and take 4 copies. If you have a good case, you will be ok.

I was able to reduce the increase from a $60k increase down to a $38K increase. But it's still an increase though however you look at it.

Much easier than I expected (HCAD). Came in to the informal hearing, showed the gentleman a single recently-sold comp, he agreed with my proposed value. In and out.

We did great. We took color photos of anything crappy looking in our neighborhood and adjacent neighborhoods. Also if any of the schools you are zoned to are poorly rated, print that info out as well. They dropped it back to where it was before the increase. Of course when we asked if it would go right back up next year, - the a swe was you can count on it. As we left, they said bye, see you next year. This will be annual thing for us to keep it down.

I'm going to protest for a family member. I'm interested to know what the formal hearing is like. Are you sitting at a table or at a podium?

I bought the house for 258 and the next year they appraised 264

I found this online company charging 40% of the savings for disputing the increase

So they got it down to 258 and I owed them 51 dollars my total savings was 121

I am happy
