Hi im really considering moving to Houston from Memphis Tennessee. I am a CNA and I have a brother tthat lives by the Galleeria Mall. Any suggestions on schools, what neighborhood should I consider. I have never been to Houston or Texas for that matter. ALSO I have heard terrible things about the traffic or commute. Thanks

Budget, needs for a rental, will you be purchasing a house right away, young kids or high school?

You may not want to move here unless you have a job first.

Good news: Medical can easily get a job

Bad news: You don't know where that job will be located - and Houston's Greater Metro Area is HUGE.

Yes, traffic is horrible. Commute time is key, especially with 4 kids in the equation. Locate your job FIRST. Then we can suggest neighborhoods.

I'd go for Katy. Solid public schools and some reasonably priced homes. Even if you got a job in Medical Center, finding a home and school that you'd feel good about would be hard.

Katy is easily an hour drive to the Medical Center. Probably more.

^ this for sure.

Plenty of hospitals and facilities where a CNA can work on that side of town. No need to travel to the med center.

My suggestion is that she look for a job in Katy. There are some very good medical facilities out there.
