Hello,
My family and I will be relocating to Houston in late February. We will be living in the 77041 zip code. What are some fun places to visit in the first few weeks near this area to introduce my kids (three boys - 7,4 & 1) and wife to Houston? We already plan to visit the usual suspects (i.e. zoo, NASA, museums in DT, etc.). Family restaurant recommendations are also greatly appreciated.

Also, my son plans to play little league; any batting cage recommendations?

Thanks for your input!

In that area try Bear Creek Park for some wide open spaces and City Centre for some urban ambiance, as far as Baseball go to Baseball USA on the West Sam Houston Parkway.

Baseball USA “The Yard” I hope this helps!

Hiking Armand bayou reserve is fun. We just went and saw red tailed Hawks, cooper hawk, vultures, woodpeckers, herons, cranes, and turtles. Bring water and insect repellent if its spring or summer.

George Historical Ranch

Lots of crawfish festivals around.

Texas Ren Fest in plantersville during the fall.

Houston Livestock show and Rodeo

Discovery Green park

Japanese festival in Hermann Park (spring)

My husband was there a couple of weeks ago and said he saw a Bald Eagle. Pretty cool.

You can take kayak trips at Armand bayou, as well as pontoon boats to see wildlife. We love it. There is also a kayak tour of bayous in Houston.

Thanks. Too bad the canoe trips are 12+; will do the pontoon boat adventure. Is there a cruise you recommend?

Regarding family restaurants, Lupe Tortilla's is known as one of the more kid-friendly places (Tex Mex), which is of course why I avoid it
