Hello everyone,

I just want to ask, why beachfront properties in Galveston don't have pools? Just curious. There are houses with pools on the bay, but almost none on the beach. I saw only 1 beachfront house with a private pool. Reasons?

Thanks
Bo

Maybe for some it's a security and/or liability issue. I have friends who own a weekend home in Galveston on the Bay with a pool. The home is not their primary residence and they are not always there, and I know they have had several issues with people trespassing in their backyard using the pool, having parties, even cleaning fish believe it or not. There are a lot of people that don't respect property rights.

That could be one factor.

Also Galveston is pretty much a sand bar. Difficult to build a pool on, and the no home insurance is a big factor too. After Ike it is almost prohibitively expensive to insure a home. A $50k pool that will be gone with the next hurricane is a big nut to self finance.
