Yes, this is a wonderful system.

Congratulations, you can sell your house and make $148K and all that would be tax free if you have lived there for 2 years..

So, what do I do if I want an equivalent home in the same area? Since I'd have to spend $429k to buy it, I would essentially lose money once you add in the realtor fees and the cost of moving. Are you new to math?

Ask any realtor how much value a pool adds to a home.

There is a reason why a pool isn't an "investment".

If you are very high up you get nothing -- but those guys total compensation is already north of 200k to begin with. I have no intention of going there as 170k is enough. And my greater point is people should remember where they came from, know their place and stop bringing down our good neighborhoods. Which is what this thread reeks of. I'm looking at you, transplants.
That's a very limited scope. Most professionals are salary and don't get overtime.

Agreed. My husband is salaried. Always has been. If he got OT for all the extra hours he worked over 40, wow. Sometimes his boss will be nice and if he has worked a lot of extra hours, his boss will let him take a day off of work here and there. But that is about it.

Lots of salaried engineers in houston get overtime. Work in an EPC that bills to projects. Easy way for an extra $20k. Maybe not now a days

You must live North of downtown. Same thing has happened to us. We're going to get taxed out of town. Totally unfair. I totally agree. I couldn't replace my house if I sold it, so what's the point in cashing out.
