Hello,

Our daughter is about to turn 5, and we live in the Houston area. However, very close to our house there's a nice Katy school with a great rating. Are there any ways we could get our child into the Katy school? I work in Katy; perhaps could that help as far as qualifying us to register him there? I have heard that even if we succeed in sending her to a school not assigned to our community, we would have to drop her off everyday as the school bus would not run our route - we are totally fine with this. I would really appreciate some guidance on this. Thanks!

I've never heard of an inter-district transfer to KISD. A few KISD kids get into SBISD due to the weird zoning in west Houston. Even Teacher's children that aren't zoned to KatyISD are not allowed to attend the KISD schools.

HISD allows some inter-district transfers, as does Cypress.

Buy or rent in the school zone, so you can contribute to the school taxes.

Like others have said, move to KISD. That is what many people do just so their kids can attend KISD schools. Or any desired school district. You will have to pay the school taxes like everyone else. It wouldn't be fair if you send your kid to good KISD school and not pay tax...while everyone else does.
