We have found a few of these in our home (already dead thankfully) now I am trying to positively identify what type of creature it is. Looks like a centipede to me but what kind? I know there are house centipedes which are beneficial, but this one looks like a miniature version of a Texas red headed centipede.
Needless to say my lovely Canadian Wife who is used to living in a relatively bug free environment is not amused by the intrusion, and I'm not too crazy about it either. The occasional roach or spider, ok.. But centipedes?!
I know the pic isn't the best, obviously it's dead and curled up but hoping someone can help.

Thanks in advance!

Probably red headed ? Hard to say from this picture. They can bite, and believe me, it could hurt.:-) But not really dangerous.

Take it so a company that sells pest control supplies and they can usually tell you what it is.

I don't think we get the horror-movie Texas Red Headed centipedes here around Houston. At least I hope to goodness not. Aside from finding a job in my field, the giant centipedes are the only other thing that prevents me from moving to the Hill Country. I am not afraid of venomous snakes or spiders or lizards or even millipedes... But centipedes give me nightmares.

You do know that they get scorpions in the house in Central Tx...

Just remember that they were there first, and we might be actually be considered the intruders. Regardless, this isn't Canada, so you should prepare for a continuous show of their presence. You might educate yourselves on what you might encounter that truly is a threat, but then also learn to relax and accept the rest of the them.

if I was you I would hire a pest control company to spray the house

Keep in mind.... bugs don't like clean houses, very simple.

Default Centipede

That is a centipede, very common around here. They do bite, but the don't typically get on you, it would be very rare. They do eat other bugs, roaches, so outside they are beneficial. I typically find these under waterlogged wood outside in the flower beds.

Along with eating lots of bugs, they also make a great classic video game nemesis.
