Mine is up by 3%, the price should drop as my neighbors can't sell their home with appraisal value.

The house on the market at least 6 months, as I live at Katy

Wow, mine is 19% higher than what I paid for my home in October of last year. That is crazy.

Up 5% since September purchase price, and half the neighborhood is for sale and not selling. Such a scam.

If you want to see scam, check out the state declared "rich" districts that gave tax abatement to large industries who in turn donated large sums to the ISD as a gift. Not nearly as much as the tax would have been. That way, the ISDs did not have to send money to the state.

Then go check out the retailers that move to new locations and leave the old building vacant for years. They tell the HCAD we cannot rent this place, so you need to lower the assessment on all of the other buildings.

Meanwhile homes just keep going up. Why the homeowners keep electing the same ol same ol is a mystery.

up 12% from last year, this is insane!! I have found some comparable homes that sold in 2015 to lower the appraisal amount.

Does anyone how many comparable's one should bring them to show?

Also, how far off in sq. ft. should that "comparable" be? Ex: If I have a 2500 sq ft. home, is a home that is 2800 sq ft., not considered "comparable"? These are all within a mile of my home and within the same subdivision.

Thanks in advanced!

Hey All,

I bought my house in Sep 2015 and applied for Homestead exemption around April 5th of this year but the Fort bend county appraisal website is not reflecting the homestead.
Is anyone having the same issue? Do i need to contact the county to add it to my appraisal ?

Thanks,

So I'm closing on my new construction at the end of this month and the appraisal value is there. Is this the value they are going to use to determine how much escrow payments will be needed?

I was under the assumption that these come out at the end of September, unless that's something else.

Don't worry about it. As long as you applied before April 30th, you'll get the exemption applied on the bill you receive later in the year. The website hasn't been updated to reflect it.
