cervelle home builder
I am relocating to Pearland and am looking for info on Cervelle home builder I would like to hear any pros or cons from people that have experience with this builders product and service. My family is considering one of their inventory houses partly because of the huge garages and partly because of the Pearland location. Debra

There are better homebuilders in Pearland than Cervelle. I have driven thru that neighborhood and those homes look poorly built. They look cheap IMO.

Better Builders Out There
We almost bought one of Cervelle's spec homes. They are the worst. Their salesman is a snake and will tell you what you want to hear.
Yes the garages are a nice feature but the construction of those homes fall short of the features that are included.
DON"T DO IT...
We were down to the wire...
We had the home inspected by an license home inspector.
He suggested, "DON'T DO IT"
You cannot judge a book by its cover.
Pearland is a nice place to live as long as you don't live in a Cervelle Home

Cervelle Homes in Pearland
My husband I have looked at these homes in Southgate many times. We love over the garage room and separate garage features which are unique to this builder (or so it seems). Although, there seems to be some red flags with regard to the quality of the building standards and we are shocked that there are so many standard features that are considered upgrades. What do you think? Please let us know your thoughts and personal experience or just your gut feeling about the salesman, community and quality of the construction.

I am a real estate agent in the Pearland area specializing in finding the best deals available in the New Home market. There are few builders that provide the features you can get in this community . . . including a great tax rate. The lots are huge, the extras are great and the space for the money is incredible. You will have a hard time finding master bedrooms and kitchens as large and as functional as with this builder. As for the quality of these homes, I can provide many more very positive letters of recommendation by satisfied home buyers than the few cautionary postings listed. All that being said, we ALWAYS encourage a buyer to have their own inspector look over the home (even though it is new and has had many inspections throughout the building process) because of the size of purchase. Cervelle has a new community about to be developed in the Clear Lake area with many of the same features found in Southgate. They have a waiting list of over 50 families waiting for the development to begin. None of this is to contradict the above experiences as posted . . . however, it would be nice to have more details regarding specifics related to how they experienced Cervelle's construction to be sub-par. Again, I would be glad to provide a number of letters of recommendation to anyone curious about this community. Earlier this month some good friends of mine purchased a Cervelle home in another community and they are very excited about it. It just depends on who you talk to. Furthermore, EVERY builder will have some clients who have been dissatisfied in one way or another with their home or the service of particular builder reps. Be careful that you don't pass up a great opportunity on one or two experiences out of hundreds. I would suggest that you randomly stop by three to four homes near where you are considering purchasing and asking a few questions of those owners . . . this is a good practice wherever you purchase. Most residents in a community would be happy to share their experiences. Just food for thought.

It would behoove anyone buying new to do their homework before they make the biggest purchase of their lives.
Go to Homeowners Against Deficeint Dwellings, Homeowners for Better Building, Texans for Public Justice as well as Texas Watch. These sites will serve you better in my opinion then a realtor telling you to ignore *1 or 2 complaints. Know the laws and your rights in the state of Texas, then make up your mind.

I wholeheartedly agree with Scammed 1's reply. The significance of a home purchase is certainly worthy of serious consideration of complaints you come across. Seek out whatever OBJECTIVE information you can from a number of sources. However, those who are living in the community can give you first hand information . . . and give it to you FACE TO FACE where you can dialogue back and forth. Sometimes the non-verbals of communication will tell you as much as what is said.

Both HOBB and HADD have forums just like this one. You can get much info by posting and I have found people will send personal info if you would like to talk with them personally.
Both these organizations are national grassroots org. so no one is selling or advertising anything.
You are one signing the contract and have to live with the decision you make.

It is easy, knock on some doors and see what the people say. The people complaining here, almost bought....., Talk to someone who bought. They will know.

Hurrican Ike and Cervelle Homes
My husband and I are looking for a new home in Pearland. A friend recommended SouthGate. They live there as well and love it. When my husband and I went buy after hurricane Ike we noticed there were no damage to any of the Cervelle homes. Some fences yes, but no homes. But, just across the street at Southfork there was so much damage to those homes. Furniture, carpet and more all in the front yards and some of those homes cost more than Cervelle. It's almost as if Hurricane Ike just ignored Southgate and Cervelle. As for us, we are still interested.
