My son will be doing the age 18 to 24 road test at the Rosenberg DMV next month to get his driver's license. Are there any curve balls or surprises? Is it basically just parallel parking, and driving around the streets near the DMV? Do most people pass on the first attempt? Thanks for your time and help.

No. I believe everyone who has a license from out of state can convert it to a Texas license.

I didn't have to take any test at all when moving here from Oregon with an Oregon DL. Just went in, filled out the basic application, took a picture and was done. If they don't have a license when moving here, I would assume they would have to take the test then.

Do you want him just to display his DL on the wall, or actually know how to drive on the roads, in our busy city??
