Default Shadow Creek Ranch - Schools, are they ok?

We are thinking of moving to either Shadow Creek Ranch or Cinco Ranch/Seven Meadows. Katy is supposed to have great schools right? But we couldn't find decent homes for our price range 200-225 in Seven Meadows/Cinco Ranch. We liked some homes in Shadow Creek Ranch. But we are not really sure about Alvin ISD schools. Does anyone live in SCR and have good experience with schools there? I looked up in schoolmatters.com and couple of other sites. But I thought I could get real information from some parents who lives there.

We don't want to make a wrong decision here since it involves our kids education.

If Alvin ISD schools are not so great, we would have to sacrifice a little and find a home that we can afford in Cinco Ranch, just for schools.

Any help is greatly appreciated.

No, we haven't looked in Friendswood yet. i work at Downtown. I don't know whether Friendswood would be good interms of commute. i was thinking of using Metro Bus in case of Katy and driving incase of SCR since its close to Downtown.

Any information on Alvin ISD anybody?

Default commute

I work downtown and leave at 6 am and am downtown in 35 minutes.I live near 518 and nasa 528.You can look up Alvin schools at greatschools.net.The best schools this side of houston are Clear lake and Friendswood and out of all the others i would rank Alvin in the middle somewhere.

I live in Shadow Creek and my kid goes to Mary Marek. So far, we are very happy with her education. Alvin ISD is still growing so it's hard to say what the future will hold. However, Mary Marek is rated exemplary by the TEA. It has a GT program where kids are identified as early as in kindergarten. The school uses a lot of programs in there teaching and education process, ie. BookAdventure, Renzulli, etc.

Kids in SCR and the other parts of west Pearland that are zoned to the Alvin ISD or Fort Bend ISD can now go to most Pearland schools, if the parents wish it. Read more about the new program Pearland just launched:

Katy has a long history of being an excellent burb. With the city building west, property values will remain strong. The school system is excellent and has a long history of being excellent.
