I would strongly recommend going to Fredericksburg over Marble Falls.
Agree with this. I know people who live/lived in Marble Falls. It's a fantastic place to live, but not much else. Now if you are only going to be outdoors, which contradicts the first post, then that is different. Fewer sights and meals there than in Fredericksburg. Check out Pedernales Falls, too.

If you are looking into canoeing, also look at the Big Thicket in SE Tx.

Hello friends,

I hope everyone is doing well. Thank you for your replies, they were very helpful.

We ended up going to the La Torretta hotel/resort in Mongtomery, which is on Lake Conroe.

We decided against driving further as it is very hot, and most of the accommodations in the popular destinations were not available.

We are hoping to visit some of the places suggested on here, in the fall.

Thank you,
mengembara

Chicken Kidding. But yes you need to get out for longer drives. Lots of good stuff to see.

Corpus Christi is like a 4hr drive first day you leave about 10 to 11 in the morning 2 days to hang around and last day come home

I know you already took your trip, but next time try Gruene, Tx.

http://gruenetexas.com/Maps/map-main.php

You can rent kayaks down the river, stay in a B&B, eat at some fun restaurants, shop, go antiquing/junking, and go see some shows. It's fun.
