HI,

Can someone suggest a DMV location where I might be able to get in for a driving road test the same day as going to the office? There are very few locations that allow online appointments, and they are all for several months in the future.

I don't mind driving an hour or so outside Houston to a smaller town's DPS office, I just need to know which would be best. I'm trying to avoid driving an hour, waiting in line, and finding out that there is no way to take the driving test that same day...so the process needs to be repeated at a later date.

Any suggestions are greatly appreciated.

Yes, I'm not looking to schedule online as the first available appointment isn't until October/November time-frame. I'm looking for an office to go in the morning and be able to take the test that same day. Thanks.

Some Driver's Ed teachers are certified to give driving test.

Here's one: DPS Road Test | Driver Ed in a Box

I'm guessing it's not just for teens.

You can try Rosenberg, since it's kinda far and a little more isolated than some of the ones in the city; but I don't know if it'll work out.

We used Drivers ed in a box for our daughter. Super convenient to schedule the road test as they offer tests on weekends and evenings. The actual road test is a lot simpler than the DPS. Once you pass, you just take the paperwork to the nearest DPS and get your license. Highly recommend.

Drivers ed in a box would be perfect except it is only for 18-24 year olds. This is for a middle aged person.

I looked into Rosenberg; however, they are a "mega center" and do online scheduling - which is not available for a few months.

Any other ideas?
