Hello,

I am born and raised in New Orleans. African American female in my mid 30's. I hear of the many job opportunities and affordability of homes in Texas. I am looking to move near Houston. I currently work in the medical field in a major hospital and have an associates in Computer Networking. My fiance would like to find a job with a railroad line. My son will be a freshman ready to start college. I hear that Tomball, Spring, Katy and Cypress are nice areas. We would rent a house one year and then make a purchase. Budget is about $200k- $275k. We are looking for a great school system and hopefully somewhat nice neighbors, low crime, commute time is somewhat important. Looking for an affordable neighborhood where I can get the best value of my dollar for a home. Hoping someone can offer me some advice, Thanks, I plan to move there June of 2017

Find the primary job first (either yours or your fiancée) then find a home.

Finding the home you want in your price range will be much easier than finding the job you want or can get.

If you want to be here to look for a job, rent something as central as you can find and then move when the job is acquired.

Houston is way too large to be commuting across town.

Good luck!

Having grown up in Spring and lived in Cypress and Tomball, I would stick to Cypress, Tomball, or Katy. All are great growing areas with great schools.

Houston is a huge area so find the job then pick the neighborhood unless you want to risk being stuck with an hour plus commute each way.
