Default Chesmar/Beazer Section in Cinco Ranch

We visited Cinco Ranch and looked at the section that is just after the Seven Lakes High School. This section has just Chesmar and Beazer home constructions. We looked at Chesmar homes and they seemed to have very good deals on the Inventory homes. We wanted to know whether its ok to buy home in this section where you have just these 2 builders.

Could anyone give us suggestions about this section please?

Do these builders have good reputation?

Any ideas about this section would be greatly appreciated.

Beazer does not have a great rep. Dunno anything about Chesmar.

for more on Beazer: TheStar.com | Business | Slump may topple house builders

"Beazer, based in Atlanta, is under investigation by the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission and hasn't filed financial information since June."

Don't beleive everything you read but I would strongly recommend checking out bbb.com before working with a builder.

Default Re: Chesmar/Beazer Section in Cinco Ranch

I live close to that area (renting in Cinco Ranch right now) and have looked at the Chesmar Bellagio model home. It's a nice house, but a bit small (family of 5). I've also looked at 2 or 3 other developments in the same area. Pine Mill Ranch, Seven Meadows and Westheimer Lakes North. What I've found is that usually 2 or 3 developers will get whole portions of a development. Pine Mill Ranch.....one section of that development is Hallmark Design homes and Westin homes.

So in the case of the exact area you are talking about, Chesmar and Beazer have all of those lots. Myself, I'm waiting for the Beazer model to open up (the one that is next to the Chesmar model home on that same corner).

As far as Beazer having shady lending practices, nothing says that you have to go through them to buy your home. You can always use your own bank or lender. It is the quality of the home that matters most to me. Also, I've seen huge differences in the quality of construction in different homes by the same builders. Some of those builders build the same floor plans in different developments. It's the superintendent in charge at the various sites that is most important.

Anyway, I hope I've been of some help. I've received some really good info from this forum.

Well we are building a home in that exact area, Chesmar Homes. We picked the Clarinda plan which is just a tad smaller than the Bellagio (50ft or so).

I think we made a good choice but we will know at when the house is complete, end of May. We put quite a few upgrades and have a premium lot so it added to the $$ of the house, but still a good deal.

My wife loved the Cinco Ranch area and after all the places we looked, which was alot, we decided on Cinco. The choice of builder is tough since we live out of town but we do have a third party inspector to check it out.

I'll let you know more later
