^^^^Unfortunately, he wasn't on PBS, it is for-profit radio, and his ratings were stagnant for quite some time. Although he had a loyal base, it was not growing, and wasn't good enough.

This. I can only listen to callers crying about Brock, bad astros hitting/pitching for so long. It get even worse when you have callers that babble non-stop and Charlie never cut them off.

So you rather hear about the hosts boring weekends, sexual innuendos and lack of real local knowledge?

Yeah - we are in a different time. CP is good at what he does, which I think is true towards what talk radio is intended to be... but today, the trend is towards the boisterous personalities who mindlessly say stuff just to get attention.

With so many entertainment options, radio is on the short end of the stick when it comes to entertaining the senses. Makes it tough to keep an audience.

we as consumers have allowed that....the program directors in this market are so out of touch its a shame...they NEVER cover local events/colleges (not pro or the 1 major college) on a consistent basis, never give updates about them and the diversity is non-existent

the audience has dried up because no one has made an attempt to produce a real local show like Charlie...at least he would mention the best college basketball team in town is Texas Southern but no one covered it

the old days every aspect was covered..you could have a boisterous personality and still get away with it if local radio did their jobs

Part of it is who is in this market - which is a bunch of transplants, including myself 23 years ago.

Pro teams transcend the local market and will always get an interest. College teams, unless they are a national power, won't get the same interest. They should at least get a mention - but you can't do large chunks of time of colleges around here.

I thought it was good when every so often CP brought in a fight song from a school when a certain matchup took place. I'm from ACC country - so I had to get used to the lack of college coverage.

right, your used to it but why haven't we demanded better? all Houston sports station follow the same vanilla blueprint for sports radio...

two-three hosts with a few having playing experience but no radio training
heavy pro sports coverage
"guy" talk
woman comes on show they get like little kids

From month 1 since the change...

Early returns have Josh Innes' ratings down from Charlie Pallilo

Innes' afternoon show recorded a 1.4 percent audience share among men 25-54, down from 2.3 for Pallilo's final full ratings book on the air.
