Where you own a weekend house near Houston?
If you had the chance to own a weekend home within 2.5 hours of Houston, where would it be? Please don't pick Galveston. I'd like some more ideas- like east texas, or west, or even south. Please give me your choices and explain why you chose it. Thanks!

Near Austin, for sure!
Because I love visiting Austin and it would be awesome to have a second home there instead of always staying with friends or getting a hotel room.

The deer aren't big enough at 2.5 hours. 3.5 hours maybe west or south west.

Oh, man, does it have to be within 2.5 hours? I so want a weekend home in the Texas hill country (Boerne, Fredricksburg, etc.), and I'd have no problem driving 3-4 hours each Friday from Houston to get there! Quiet, beauty, clean air, rolling hills, wineries, food...the reasons go on and on.

Washington County, Austin County, Colorado County, or Fayette County. Close enough to home, yet you feel a thousand miles away.

No votes for scenic Texas City yet? (Hey, it's not Galveston!)

I second Poltracker here. Lake Livingston is the best.
