Default LA Transplants now in Houston - Well?

To those of you who moved from LA or So. Cal. to Houston, do you like it better? Be honest.

What do you like more? What do you like less? And, would you rather stay or go back out West?

I only ask because, of all the places I've lived, LA is the city in which I've lived the longest and probably best identify with.

For the others, do you know how the Angelenos are faring there and what they plan to do (stay or go back)?

This should be interesting....

We have been here for a year now after living in Southern Ca for the last 5 years. I have to say that I am glad we made the move. The pace of life here is much slower. When we lived on the west coast it seemed like we were rush rush rush all the time. Constantly working to stay afloat. When the opportunity came for my husband to accept a job here I have to say we jumped at it. Instead of living in a cramped 900 sq ft apartment for 5 people we actually are in a house with a yard. While we are still renting at the moment, once we figure out for sure where we want to live we are planning on buying. (Plus after numerous moves we want to make sure this is permanent)

People here are friendlier, they take the time to get to know you. Schools are better quality for my children. Neighborhood is way safer. I actually let my children walk to school which I never did in Ca.

My husband says it best. All we miss about Ca is geography.(beach, mountains etc.) Texas has a beauty of its own and I don't regret our move at all.

I lived in San Diego for 2 years before going to Texas A&M at CS. I subsequently moved to Houston. MAJOR UPGRADE from San Diego! The job market is great in Houston, entertainment is endless and the people are absolutely wonderful. I like nothing more than running my dog at dusk along the trails off Allen Pkwy. This place is great!
