Gangs in Houston?
Looking at making a move from NJ to Houston, however, I'm deeply concerned by all the reports of gang activity in the area. As screwed up as NJ is, I honestly think that our minorties are much better behaved than those in the south. Ours are pretty much confined to the City of Newark. Houstons issues seem more spread out? Is the problem worsening? Should I bring a tank division to quell the nonsense if I head south?

Well, I'm gangsta...bring the whole army, y'all can't stop me...
Gangs are everywhere. NJ, Houston, everywhere. Some are connected to real criminal cartels and some are just wannabe punks. You can get a concealed handgun license in Texas. Crime happens.

It is bad, and the demographic trends - with less than 50% graduating from HS in Texas leads me to believe it's not going to get any better. They are a cancer.

Sad thing is that people from the South get the label but people from the North are the ones spewing stuff like that...

Well, the really sad thing is a lot of people in the South still spew that crap along with some people from the North. Thankfully, it seems most of the people of Houston have moved beyond such backwards thinking.
