Ask some locals at a college campus or do some sight seeing during the weekend. You'll notice the poppin areas as you drive around the city on a Thursday, Friday, or Saturday night.

Yeah there is a lot more guys than girls in the Houston bar scene. Midtown might be fun if you are a girl. Last time I was there it was about 4-1 guys to girls.

Some time ago, the running track at Memorial Park was a bit of a daytime meet (meat?) market for young singles. Not sure if it's still that way, but worth checking out if you're into outdoor exercise.
