I'd look at some lab tech positions. You might be able to find them in Energy/Chemicals or medical/hospitals.

I'm not so sure that entry level 45k is that easily attainable unless you spent some time in undergrad with an internship or working in some kind of industrial capacity perhaps specializing in some type of biotech or bioinformatics.

It's high for most entry level anything except engineering or perhaps something like a 2 year process technology degree. I have also seen 2 year nursing students making that much entry level. But not biology.

Why not go this route?

MD Anderson has a top notch program and once you pass the ASCP Certification Exam you are eligible to work anywhere and in any state. BTW they are called Medical Laboratory Scientists.

In California they are called Clinical Laboratory Scientists and they earn over 100K right out of school.

Your Biology degree alone won't land you a 45K job unless you go into sales and are successful at it.

If I already have a degree would I need to go through the program? Or could I just study on my own and take the exam?

My son is still trying to learn/understand the concept of time, so when I tell him something will happen in 30 minutes, he usually follows up with, "How long is 30 minutes?" Try answering that!

Easy! One episode of Sponge Bob Squarepants... That was the universal unit of time for my youngest kid.

That's harder now in the days of YouTube, Netflix, and DVR -- no commercials!!! I've been doing it in terms of "churches" -- 30 minutes is "half a church," 2 hours is "2 churches."

LOL.
