I have AAA but I'm tired of constant increases. I went with them because they cover Harris County and a co-worker got excellent and quick reimbursement when they had a lightning claim.

Anyone have a good company or broker to recommend that has good rates and good customer service?

P.S. One bad thing about Texas is that insurers limit exclusions to a percentage rather than a dollar value as auto insurance plans do. That gives insurance companies a great incentive to increase the replacement value of your house so the amount you would have to pay in the event of a claim is higher than it would be in another state.

We've been happy with Amica, who insured us after Allstate bailed on frame houses.

I've had to argue with most insurance companies about replacement cost of my house, since they came in way low. It is impossible to build a house inside the loop for $95 per sq ft, but that was the value Allstate used. Amica was better, but still not as high as I would have liked.

I had USAA but if you don't qualify Liberty Mutual was good for me years back.
