Sienna Plantation : True Experiences & Reality
I have seen the website of Sienna Plantation.
It appears to be ..heaven on earth.
In reality,it must be a very good choice.
I would like to have testimonies from people who actually live there, have built or rent a home there,or visitors who have knowledge of that community.
On paper,it is huge,10500 acres,as big as DFW airport, the biggest in the world.
All numbers about it are impressive, but I want comments from people who have experience about it.
Your opinions r welcome.

I purchased there in January.
We're very happy with our decision. Bang for the $ it was tough to compete IMHO.
Two good elementary schools, with a third opening. Middle school coming this year I believe as well. Clean, nice, great amenities. I work in the Galleria area and my average commute is about 30-40 min tops.

I humbly submit, in my humble opinion, that Sienna Plantation is a long drive from Humble...some people who live there may be humble, though.
They had a rash of burglaries and home invasions a few months ago (including one that targeted Dunta Robinson of the Houston Texans football team, who apparently lives there). I haven't heard anything bad out of there lately. I've only been in the Sienna Plantation development itself once, but I can say that it seems like a long drive just to get out of the subdivision and onto Highway 6. Maybe not so much if you are on the north part near the highway. You can get to downtown in 30 minutes when the freeways are flowing at the speed limits, but you can add some time at rush hour, and you can bet if you're trying to get on the Pierce Elevated you will wait in line for a good while as the ramp merges from two lanes to one. There isn't a whole lot of signage ahead to let people know, so this backs up all the time.

I live near Sienna (not in it) and have to travel sienna parkway to get to hwy 6. Traffic is a MAJOR problem, as that subdivision has only one way in and out. I've been in this area for over 20 years, well before that subdivision was developed. This area was very laid back then with no traffic problems at all. You could even see the stars at night, but not anymore. It's funny that folks want to move from city to the country, but they only bring the same problems the city has that they were trying to get away from... ie traffic and crime. I blame the traffic problems on the developers and the county for poor mobility plans and the lack of action to implement a plan. Schools, homes, apartments and businesses are being built on a large scale, but still there is only that one way in and out. You do the math. Just think about the next major hurricane that hits this area. If you live in Sienna area, you are not going anywhere unless you leave early. So you might as well plan to be without utility services for several days. Just my 2 cents.

For such an investment, they should have built a second entrance...
I guess it is a deluxe Levittown.
If it is gated, how do burglaries happen ?

I counted four ways out this morning.
Sienna Parkway
Trammel Fresno
McKeever Rd
Watts Plantation
But then again I have only lived here a month or so.

Sienna Parkway is the only artery out of the subdivision and it runs North to Hwy 6. The 1st cross road you come to is McKeever road, which will take you East to Arcola and ties into Hwy 6 and 521. You continue North a couple of more miles on Sienna Parkway and the next cross road is Watts Plantation, which also only takes you East and ties into Hwy 6. The next crossroad is Trammel Fresno, which again only goes East and ties into Hwy 6. During a hurricane evac you are only allowed to travel North on specified routes and Hwy 6 is a main evac route. Now, hopefully the new Fort Bend county toll road (which runs North) will be used as an evac route also.
If a major huricane happens to hit this area the Sienna residents have to travel North to the 1st cross road. Can you imagine the traffic problems just to get to McKeever..? There is no other exit, nothing to the South, East or West that originates within that subdivision. Hwy 6 will already be bumper to bumper just as it was a few years ago during Rita. There are more folks living there now and the traffic problems will only be worse. And we better not forget about the other subdivisions that are along Sienna Parkway, ie Bee's Creek, Silver Ridge, etc and also the new apartment complex at Trammel Fresno.
True, the county is working on a new road that will tie into Hwy 6 about a mile North of the Sienna Parkway entrance, but will that really help during an evac...? I think not, this is the reality.
