Let's rate the Houston burbs.... (Dallas, Missouri City: for sale, houses, employment)

....after living in katy for the last 8 month and having soooo many of our family/friends from socal asking us about what area is best, my wife and I came up with a list of what we thought were the best burbs around the metroplex

1. Woodlands

2. Sugarland

3. Katy

4. Clear lakes

5. Cypress

6. Kingwood

7. Tomball

8. Richmond

9. Missouri City

T10. Spring

T10. Pearland




FYI; keep in mind that we're talking burbs and yes we know River Oaks and Memorial city would be at the top of the list.

Honestly, I think that you've left out alot of great areas on the east side of Houston. Although I realize there's alot of industry there Deer Park and La Porte are both great areas with great schools and nice houses of all price ranges. I also live in Crosby which is about 30 minutes from Downtown Houston when the weather is good and I really love my community. It's up and coming but there is still alot of acreage for sale so that you don't have to live in a subdivision if you don't want to.

I'm sure we left out some good suburbs, We haven't been out to the eastside that much and didn't want to name areas we have not seen.

I would like to read some of the other poster's(for sure the realtors) top 5 list.

Please just keep in mine that our list is "IMHO"

I'd move Richmond down and Kingwood way up the list. This is more like what my list would look like


1. Woodlands
2. Sugarland
3. Kingwood
4. Katy
5. Clear Lake
6. Pearland/Friendswood
7. Cypress
8. Missouri City

10. Spring
11. Richmond

I always account for the location in my lists. Being a little too far away from employment locations knocks some of the better ones down a little farther for me.

1.Sugarland
2.Katy (adding Parkway Villages, Twin Lakes and Lakes of Eldridge into the grouping)
3.Pearland/Friendswood
4.Clear Lake- Once they finish that Nasa Rd. Flyover its will moveup over Pearland.
5.Woodlands-its just too far away. Any they charge more for the same house plans
everyone else has.
6.Kingwood.
7.Cypress- 290 just kills it for me.


Tomball, Spring and Richmond are more towns than communities. Of those three I like Tomball the best.

I've never heard the Houston area referred to as the "metroplex," a term that I have always understood has been used by folks in the Dallas/Ft.Worth area to describe their giant sprawl.

I agree entirely, we eastsiders get left out alot. If you really want a good commute.....

I ment to write metro, didn't notice until you mentioned it.
