Did y'all know that Pearland's black population grew over 640% from 2000 to 2010. That's alot blacks moving to a city.

Good Morning Everyone,

I'm interested in moving to Houston/Dallas Texas. Key decisions in me making a move are:
- school districts (charters/public education)
- neighborhoods to raise a family(mixed community); middle class
- job market in IT/education

Someplace like the A as far as scenery, nightlife and affordable housing. I welcome all suggestions. If you can provide zipcodes, that would be great.

Sounds like you need to stay in the A.

Scenery maybe everything else not necessarily. Dallas and Houston especially can hold it's own.

lol, we did. It is mainly because there is affordable housing there and it is close to a lot of jobs. A lot of blacks work in the medical industry and Pearland in theory is a short drive to the Med Center (In reality it is a mess in rush hr)

sorry hun, every single metro in the country has great school districts, neighborhoods etc (every last one). There is no metro in the US where all the schools are just horrible.

So if it comes down to job market in IT both Houston and DFW have great IT markets but neither looks like ATL in terms of scenery.

As for Housing the three are all pretty close on the affordability scale with Houston being the cheapest, then DFW then ATL, but they are all really close.

as for zip codes, I would rather go by neighborhood. You can find varity galore within the same zip code. The 77004 zip code for example has some of the most expensive homes in Houston on one side and over on the next it has some of the most expensive. I have seen 9M dollar houses in that zip and I have seen houses that are so crappy that they sell them for the land only

That place called Fresno did too. Much of the growth came from blacks (545.5%).
