This may have been one you have seen:

but the stats say differently.

As for California, LA county (856K) has the third biggest Black population in the US after Cook County (1.2M) Kings County (860K). Harris is fourth with 775K. Again Fulton is no where in the top 10.
yeah but where does the rest of the 1.8 million blacks in California come from? There's more blacks in the city of Houston alone than there is in the entire 7 million plus San Francisco Bay area population. Sacramento and San Diego's black population is about the same size as Austin and San Antonio and the black population is mostly in the urban areas of the state as opposed to Texas where they are pretty much in the urban areas, rural areas, and small towns in Texas.

I'll take this stat but it's interesting.

San Antonio and Austin's black population is pitiful.
There are more Blacks in Arlington or Beaumont than in Austin. There are more Blacks in FW than there are in San Antonio.

as for Cali
LA County has 850K
Alameda has about 200K
4 other counties have about 150K.
One county has 100K
6 others have 50K. It adds up in the end.

For Texas, Harris, Dallas, Tarrant and Fort Bend are the big boys for black population

I don't know where y'all are getting this info from. It's goes:

New York
Florida
Texas
Georgia

African American Population Demographics

See what Im saying and thats from the census too. There are too many numbers out there and too many articles saying different things. I knew about black demographics though and the California number on there is more believeable as well. Htown, could you post the black only stats instead of blacks mixed. Maybe they are in line with black demographics site. Because they are going by black only and I usually go by that as well.

ATL's city pop is too small to make it to the top ten. miami's the same. Their black pop is about the size of Arlington's black pop.

The Black pop in many cities are dropping as Blacks move to burbs.
Very good list, very accurate except you would have to put Detroit between Chicago and Philly. It is wierd tho that some of the largest cities would have a popultaion of just one ethnic group that would still be in the top twenty for whole city populations. Especially the top 5 cities. Just look at how the black population alone in new york is about as much as the city population of houston, and not to far behind chicago.
