Having said that, Atlanta is still an attractive place to live.
Exactly, Atlanta is a great place, but it was "marketed" too hard for what it was worth. I hope Houston doesn't follow Atlanta's footsteps.

I wish it could market itself more and better, IMO, to blacks though because I've read posts on here basically saying that many blacks have this stereotype about Texas and Houston, but when they visit they fall in love. That's just my opinion.

That's what I've noticed too. I went to school in Virginia, and I used to get all of these people from up north and out west who couldn't understand my accent (though I also couldn't understand theirs, at least the northerners lol), knew nothing about Texas, thought we still rode horses as a primary form of transportation, thought we all had huge ranches, and all of the other stereotypical ignorance that comes from other parts of the country about Texas.

Now, those same New Yorkers, Philadelphians, New Jerseyers(?), Bostonians, and Chicagoans are either clamoring to come to Texas, or have already come and love it here. I find it quite amusing. I even asked a friend of mine the other day who moved to Houston if she missed NYC. Her answer?

"Only during the summer."

She'll live. I'm sure she won't be returning up north anytime soon though lol.

Why should Houston market itself to blacks? Why not Vietnamese, Pakistanis, or Germans?

was just about to say that.

A&M the great thing about Houston is that it markets to no one and yet everyone comes.

Because the thread is about Blacks and not about Vietnamese, Pakistanis, or Germans.

Do you believe he's saying Houston should only be concerned with marketing itself to blacks?

Yes, it seems that way.

No no way at all you guys. Houston will be a large Hispanic market regardless, but as a race (blacks), too many of us still have those OLD stereotypes about Texas (Houston). Aside from marketing itself as a Hispanic mecca or an Asian mecca, I think that Houston should market more to blacks as well. That's all I'm saying. I know what I'm trying to say, but I'm not being clear.
