We've been keeping track of lots of people and the only 3 that are flooded live in the southeast. Now there is flooding elsewhere, but not among people we know.

Relatively speaking - it's an apocalypse.

Houston is huge, so there are many who have escaped damage to this point.

But this storm with the amount of square miles it has damaged and the amount of water that has dropped from the sky - apocalyptic.

Even when it stops raining - we have rivers that we have to deal with as they process all of the water coming from the region... College Station is probably pushing 30" of rain, Brenham as well - all of that water will run through here at some point.

Honestly I think the region has handled it pretty well, which makes it seem less apocalyptic.

Alright... perhaps. But the flood is worse than ever.

BTW: friends house was dry till the dam released water - now he has 3 ft water on the ground level.
What an irony...

It's all very real. I only wish it was fake news. Even here in San Antonio, I have several colleagues with loved ones in Houston, League City, Gonzales, LaGrange, and Rockport (God, poor Rockport ) who lost everything, and/or are in shelters. I have friends in Cypress and Montgomery. They're ok, but I still can't believe it's not over, and several more feet, YES FEET of rain to go. I'm just speechless...

Harris county has about 1.4 million individual properties, if I remember correctly, so there probably aren't millions of structures in the MSA.

Yes. It seems like every person I know who lives in Houston/Houston area (in and out of loop) are fine (house fine, have electricity, etc) but are stuck at home.

Does anyone know anything about the Oak Forest neighborhood? Near TC Jester?

It IS an apocalypse. Most of Houston looks like that.

Actually the one showing the "airport" with flooded planes is fake.

Guy made the pic to show what flooding would look like in NYC, social media took it as Houston and ran with it.
