A LOT OF NEIGHBORHOODS are going to claim that they didn't flood to make sure that their values don't go down

I am actually sick and tired of people boasting everywhere how their homes didn't flood as if it was something to do to them directly... This is no time to praise how high and dry your neighborhood was. I didn't get flooded but I feel for many who did flood. I see lot of people rubbing it on face by saying we had a lake in backyard but we didn't flood. Nothing happened. It's just older neighborhoods towards Houston that have a history of flooding.

I guess ppl who got lucky know that they might not get so lucky next time. So basically if they were on the brink of getting flooded or if their neighbors flooded they might try to exit the market.

Flooding is a required disclosure, you can't make the claim if its not true. If the water has ever entered the structure it must be disclosed. Failure to disclose would leave the seller liable for the damages whenever they are discovered. I can guarantee that home inspectors will be checking moisture levels in drywall religiously for the next several months.

As to a previous poster - only about half of memorial bend flooded - the other half was dry.

My husband is being transferred to Houston and are under contract on a home in Kingwood. Only 1 of the homes we were interested in raised the price by 20,000. We were initially told that the owner increased the price because he was getting too many low offers and was looking for an offer closer to the original price. We offered the original asking price and when it was rejected his realtor told us the seller was trying to capitalize on the flood. We started to get worried that this would be a trend with all of the homes in the area, but it has not been the case.

How was the situation in Kingwood?
From youtube I could get an impression that entire Kingwood flooded, but how the reality was?

Should we just lie and say we flooded? Lots of people have asked me if our house flooded. I thought telling the truth was a good thing.
