Default Kelliwood Subdivision in Katy

Hi everybody,
I'm looking to buy a house in Kelliwood subdivision in Katy. I don't know the area very well, I've been shown a couple of houses in different "subdivisions" of Kelliwood, and boy it has a lot. I liked the house in Kelliwood Estates, but it seems that you'd have to pay more to be in that area. If any of you guys live/know the area well, can shed the light on something worth paying extra for. Does Kelliwood Estates offer something better then other Kelliwood "areas" across Fry Rd?
It seems that for the same square footage you can pay less just across the street.
OR IS IT JUST THE "STATUS" THAT YOU'RE PAYING EXTRA FOR???
All replies are greatly appreciated.

I think you are paying for the prestige whatever that is worth to you! Estates are zoned for Pattison Elementary and Gardens, Enclave etc are zoned for Hayes. Both are great schools! My son is at Hayes and I have many friends with kids at Pattison!

I think you get much bigger lots in the Estates. My favorite over there is Windsor Park Estates, not lakes. Massive lots.

You should also check out Kelliwood Park, which is where we are having a house built by TaylorMorrison. It is the last Kelliwood subdivision of about 100 homes that is bordered by George Bush Park, the 17th hole of Willowfork country club, and Kelliwood Greens subdivision. The whole development has almost sold out within 2 years. I think TaylorMorrison has a few homes available and Newmark has a handful more. Those are the only builders in the section.

Also the subdivision is zoned to Creech elementary, Beck JH and Seven Lakes High School... The high school was a big plus for us since we are moving from Seven Meadows which is also zoned there... not that it is a major factor currently since our son is only 16 months old and has a way to go, but its nice to know it it is zoned to a great high school.
